The Horizon Report

“The annual Horizon Report describes the continuing work of the [New Media Consortium] NMC’s Horizon Project, a research-oriented effort that seeks to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have considerable impact on teaching, learning, and creative expression …”

This report [click on image to download] is a great example of how we can reflect on up-to-date research and how such technologies may impact on our practice in the classroom.

This year’s report focuses on:

  • mobile devices,
  • ebooks,
  • augmented reality,
  • game based learning,
  • gesture based computing and
  • learning analytics.

The following YouTube clip summarises the findings of the 2011 report.

Have you used any of these emerging technologies?  Leave a comment and/or link, let us know.
